My name is Jacob Clifton.  I’ve lived here in Boise all my life, and if you had asked me at any point in my life would I consider a career in fitness, I probably would have laughed. I was very active growing up, but time and circumstance caught up with me and I slowly let myself go. Weighing in at 268lbs when I got married in 2014, I had never felt worse about myself. I always wore a brave face and never let the ones I cared most about see how much I didn’t like what I saw and felt when I looked in the mirror. I decided to make a change so I started working out here at the Grove Fitness Club and Spa. Along with a big change in my eating habits and a lot of hard work I have now lost over 64lbs!
Along the way I encountered things about myself that I had ignored and buried deep inside.  I was forced to take a good hard look at myself and who I thought I was. Facing these challenges and overcoming them I slowly realized a purpose. I realized that helping people to discover who they are and who they want to be mentally, physically, and emotionally was what I truly wanted to do with my life. I am now a NASM certified personal trainer at the very gym where I made all the changes in my life, and where I l know you can too! Whatever your goals are I know I can help you reach them, and I’m here for you! My name is Jacob Clifton, welcome home.

I've always enjoyed being active. Growing up in Eastern Idaho, the mountains, lakes, and rivers were my playground. I attended the University of Idaho and later graduated from Boise State University. I have been in Boise ever since. In 2012, I decided to make my passion for fitness into a new career and began studying personal training with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I received my certification and was on my way, but shortly after I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I spent the next two years having and recovering from surgeries and treatments. I did a lot of research and soul searching during this time as well.
Holistic health and disease prevention slowly became my new passion. Through self evaluation, knew my picture of health and fitness wasn't complete. I was extremely fit and my diet was near "perfect", but began to realize what was missing. Mindfulness! Taking time to be and appreciate happiness and compassion. I also learned the importance of fueling and nurturing our bodies with natural nutrient dense foods and earth's supplements. I now focus my energy on sharing my knowledge of living a holistically happy healthy life. I strive to be a great example to the people around me. In turn, I love to surround myself with positive people. I encourage everyone to be happy, healthy, and disease free. It is my mission to help people get there and stay there!
I want to help YOU meet your goals. I am here to lead you through a holistic fitness journey. I will be here to encourage you and assist you in reaching your goals. I want to share my passion with you and change as many lives as possible. The Grove Fitness Club & Spa is a perfect place to embrace my holistic fitness vision with endless training options, spectacular skyline views, sauna for detoxing, massage, and as awesome team of professionals. We look forward to meeting you!

Cari Bio Pic
My name is Cari Powers and my fitness journey started in 2005. As a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding, I was the biggest girl in the group and when the pictures came back, I didn't even recognize myself. I looked happy, but I wasn't. I was trying to make myself smaller to blend in with the people around me. I knew then that I had to change. I joined a small gym and a local Weight Watchers meeting and things have never been the same since. I lost 80 pounds within a year and although there have been ups and downs since, I've maintained a 50 pound weight loss for the last decade.
I worked at a gym to put myself through college, selling memberships, teaching aerobics, and personal training. When I graduated, I went straight into corporate life and the weight started creeping back. I realized that it wasn't the stress of corporate life that was bringing back some old, unhealthy habits. Instead, it was the fact that I didn't feel fulfilled. I wasn't truly helping people in the same immediately rewarding way that I used to when I worked in a gym. I couldn't wait to get back into the fitness industry. I updated all my certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and got on the hunt!
In my time at the Grove Fitness Club & Spa, I've taken on strength conditioning and cycling classes, and added many clients to my personal training roster. As a trainer, I tend to focus on balance and core strength as a fundamental that is often overlooked. I combine balance, core, and flexibility with traditional strength training for the most efficient workouts possible. Of course every program is designed specifically for particular clients and their individualized goals, abilities, and inclinations. I firmly believe that exercise and nutrition programs have to be enjoyable and realistic (read: not too strict! not 2 hours a day!) for long-term change to happen. I have a strong passion for helping women and first-time exercisers, or anyone who might find the gym environment intimidating. When you're ready for results, I would love to help you get them!!!

Meloney Clifton

Massage Therapist

I have always had a passion and drive to help people.  The amazing effects of massage therapy were first introduced to me when I was 7.  Someone asked me to feel a "knot" in their shoulders and rub it for them.  Being able to feel the tension leave the muscle was mind-blowing to me and that experience is one that has always stuck with me.  Throughout the  following years, massaging was always at the forefront of how I would offer to help people with their pain.
After high school graduation, I knew that helping people was the career path I wanted to take.  I went directly into school for Medical Assisting and obtained my degree.  After working a few years in that field but finding it was not quite as fulfilling as I had thought it would be for my own goals.  My fallback was always the desire to touch people's lives and really make an impact on their pain and quality of life.
In 2013, I finally got out of my way and pursued a career in Massage Therapy.  Learning different techniques and modalities helped me to solidify my knowledge and confidence in my abilities to effectively accomplish my goals in helping people and improving their quality of life.  I graduated with my Associates of Science in Massage Therapy Degree with honors.  I am a National Board Certified Massage Therapist as well as a Licensed Massage Therapist.
I am skilled and trained in the following modalities: Prenatal, Deep Tissue, Sports, Lymphatic Drainage, Craniosacral, Myofascial Release, Hot Stone, and Swedish massage.  I also have the knowledge and ability to do wraps and scrubs.

Heather Randall

Massage Therapist

Throughout my adult life, I have had the opportunity to travel extensively and interact with many diverse populations. I have always really enjoyed the opportunity to learn from and connect with others.
As a former journalist, I learned how to ask questions and really listen to what my sources were telling me.   Eventually I realized that I was still missing out on how I could best serve others.   Armed with the skills of being a strong listener and observer, I decided to put down my lap top and pick up a kinesiology book.
It was with that I made the choice to enroll in a massage therapy program at Broadview University, and I've never looked back.   Though I am new to the industry, I am surrounded by spectacular resources and a tireless urge to learn more so that I can continue to serve a diverse client base.   Being part of the team at The Grove Fitness and Spa has been incredible so far, and I look forward to continuing to grow and serve all of my clients with the highest quality care possible.
